Slow Cooker Soy Sauce Chicken Wings


As falls are going to over, I would like to share with you all a comfort dish that suitable for this coming cold season.  Stewing or brewing is one of trend of cooking during this time and to make it more easy and convenient if your kitchen has this small wonder call - slow cooker, then will be perfect!

This recipe is specially designed for those who have a slow cooker at home.  Is a Chinese style of cooking, that's why soy sauce is one of the main ingredients for this chicken wings recipe.  I used combinations of both light and dark soy sauce to build up the colors of the whole dish, a little Chinese cooking wine to stir-up the taste and is so easy to make.  

What you need to do is to cook the wings for a few minutes and then transfer them into the slow cooker and add in with mixed sauce.  After two hours you will be able to enjoy a smooth and nice texture of the wings.



INGREDIENTS

10 chicken wings, cut into pieces
2 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
4 or 5 cloves of garlic, smashed
2 sprigs of spring onion, cut into 1" length
3 slices of ginger, in 1" length
2 star anise
1 tbsp cooking oil

2 lumps of rock sugar or 4 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water

Mix Sauce
3 tbsp light soy sauce
3 tbsp dark soy sauce
11/2 cups chicken broth

Seasoning
A dash of salt
A dash of pepper

Garnishing
1 tbsp toasted sesame seed
1 tbsp chopped spring onion




INSTRUCTIONS

1.   Heat-up oil in a wok or skillet, saute ginger, spring onion, garlic and star anise until fragrant.  
2.   Add in chicken wings and stir in cooking wine and cook for about 5 minutes.
3.   Transfer the wings into the slow cooker.
4.   Add in mixed sauce and rock sugar and cook on high heat for 2 hours.
5.   Mix in the cornstarch mixtures and season with salt and pepper to your desire.
6.  Dish out and garnish with sesame seed and spring onion. Enjoy this warm food!
